How a Tieback Retaining Wall Works
A tieback is a tensioned anchor installed at an angle through a retaining wall and into the stable ground behind it. The anchor is drilled into place, grouted, and, once the grout has cured, stressed with a hydraulic jack and locked off to apply a permanent load against the wall. That counterforce offsets the lateral pressure of the retained earth, minimizing wall deflection and protecting adjacent structures, utilities, and roadways as excavation progresses.
